Why a Community Project?
We know that the cost of system purchase and installation can significantly affect your rates of return on your investment. By bringing the community together we aim to lower these costs so as to achieve a higher rate of return on every installation. In essence, we want to achieve economies of scale through bringing the community together.
What does it involve?
Basically, we are looking for households, schools and other property owners who are interested in Solar PV systems to be installed on their properties. When we get a large enough group of participants, we will bulk purchase the systems and organise installation.
What is Solar PV?
Solar PV (Photovoltaics) is the generation of electricity from the sun using Solar panels on your roof. To get a comprehensive understanding of Solar PV please read our dedicated page on the Technology section of this website.
What sort of return can I expect?
As a rule of thumb, we are aiming for our participants to earn an Annual ROI of around 10% per annum, or a total ROI of 135%. For more information on calculating your investment return and to see the cash flow analysis, please click here.
How do I earn this?
These rates of return are available because of the Governments Feed In Tariff scheme, whereby you are paid to produce renewable electricity. There are also other savings, and if you want to know more then please click here.
How much will it cost me?
We are estimating an average house will suit a 10 panel Solar PV system that costs around £9,000 fully installed. This is significantly lower than the costs given by other large Solar PV suppliers. Is there financing available?
Cernunnos Homes can help you obtain financing for your system. However, to achieve the best rates of return, we honestly believe you should use your own capital for the system purchase. Why pay a bank 8% for a loan when you only earn 3% in your bank account, and you can invest it to earn 10%+?
Is the Project open to everyone?
Yes and No. We will not include you in the project if your property is unsuitable for Solar PV. You need to have a South, South East or Sout West facing roof, with space for the panels. There also needs to be no obstruction from trees and other buildings. We will let you know how suitable your property is simply by you letting us have your postcode. Its as simple as that.
