Costs are bound to vary dependant on the turbine size that you want. In general you should look to maximise your energy generation in accordance with your budget. Given the introduction of FIT’s for UK renewable energy generation you will be paid for any electricity you generate – even if you use this electricity yourself and thereby have no energy bills.
Once again, from wind turbine installers Segen, we have the following costs:
| System | Power | Cost |
| Evance R9000 | 5kW | £25,000 |
| Gaia 133 | 11kW | £50,000 |
| Westwind 18 | 18kW | £245,000 |
Other systems are available, although this is a very good guide to what the total cost of purchase and installation can be.
Meanwhile, the FiT for Wind power is:
| Technology | System | Lifetime | Tariff Level (p/kWh) |
| Wind | <1.5kW | 20 | 34.5 |
| Wind | >1.5-15kW | 20 | 26.7 |
| Wind | >15-100kW | 20 | 24.1 |
| Wind | >100-500kW | 20 | 18.8 |
| Wind | >500-1.5MW | 20 | 9.4 |
| Wind | >1.5-5MW | 20 | 4.5 |
