The Budget: Retro fits and the CSH

Of course it’s budget week, and once again we wait to see what the Government has in store for us. The news out this weekend appears to focus on the retro-fitting of Office space to be converted into flats.

With several developers and projects now focusing on the renovation of buildings into Code Level 3 and 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH), this could create a path for the retro fit of inefficient buildings into more efficient and economically viable buildings.

We would welcome such a scheme, as the lack of new build properties in the UK since the recession is already creating concern of a housing shortage in the South of the UK in the next 20 years, whilst office space is abundant and over supplied. Meanwhile the CSH is has been very successful for new developments, but now needs to transfer over to retro-fit projects if its success is to be continued. #

Oh, by the way, Cernunnos Homes now offers a CSH consultancy service!
